YOURS is set to publish its maiden publication: Youth and Road Safey: A Welcome Kit. The publication will be a comprehensive guide for youth and road safety activists around the world. It brings together evidence based information about the current global road safety situation along with practical guidance on how to effectuate lasting change.

This work was the result of a grant and guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, in collaboration with the International Union for Health Promotion and Education, in Paris.

Youth and Road Safety: A Welcome Kit compiled by YOURS is set to be published very soon!

Every day, more and more young people around the world are recognizing the magnitude of the road safety problem. In response, many of them set out to become road safety activists, raising awareness of those around them and advocating their governments for a more serious approach to this problem. Other young people who are confronted with the road safety issue are eager to take action but do not where and how to start. In addition, there are even more youth who are not aware of the threat they and their loved ones face on the roads.

Therefore, this Welcome Kit is intended to introduce young individuals and organizations to the road safety field, particularly youth issues, and to motivate them to become actively involved.

Youth for Road Safety: A welcome kit is aimed at:

  • introducing young individuals to the global road safety problem and potential avenues for action,
  • supporting the efforts of young people working to prevent road traffic injuries among youth,
  • and inspiring youth and encouraging them to become road safety activists.

This is YOURS’s first publication and will be the key document used in our workshops and events. YOURS will also disseminate this toolkit to its global youth network, support its translation into as many languages, and encourage its use and adaptation by young people around the world.

The kit focuses on key factors such as:

  • Understanding Road Traffic Injuries
  • Key Risk Factors
  • Getting Involed and where to start
  • What you can do
  • Introduction to Project Management
  • Networking, fundraising and campaigning

Be sure to keep an eye out for the launch of the Welcome Kit! YOURS will release more information in due course. The kit will be, of course, absolutely free to use for all road safety and young people’s organizations, projects etc. We look forward to releasing the finished project soon, so stay tuned….
