For the 2nd World Youth Assembly for Road Safety, all young delegates were invited to present original, impactful, and innovative projects to address the most urgent and pressing needs outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These projects addressed topics such as environment, human rights, health, sustainable cities, equality and any other SDG that had a connection with road safety.

We received 44 projects in total and, based on a previous transparent selection criteria and methodology that was carefully designed, we selected 3 winners at the Assembly. Those 3 projects are receiving seed funding, capacity development training and partnerships’ support.

As part of this initiative, YOURS carried out the first training for local actions focused on project management skills, especially in project planning. The online training was given to one of the selected winners: Haidarsho Makulshoev, from Dushanbe, Tajikistán. Haidarsho and his team discussed the different steps that would need to be completed in order to design and plan a project. From goals and objectives, to staff, budget and project proposal are some of the topics that we discussed, including practical exercises that helped them how to apply their learnings.

Haidarsho is part of the organization “Young Generation of Takijistan” and he is leading a project focused on reclaiming space in Dushanbe for walking and cycling. The project has components related to advocacy, community mobilization and capacity development, all led by young leaders. The project will start its implementation in September 2020.

Stay tuned to get to know more about the other 2 project winners, the progress of their projects and how to get involved with these types of activities in the near future!
