We want to wish all of our supporters, partners and advisors a massive happy new year! 2011 is a big one and as we see the Decade of Action come into force, the work of YOURS is set to create a bigger impact in the years ahead.
We look back at our New Years Message in 2010 and think of all goals realised throughout the year. We have achieved some great successes many of which we visioned at the start of 2010 and implemented as our structure formulated and our network grew. But this is just the start, we have much more work ahead in close partnership and collaboration with road safety organisations around the world.
In 2011, we are witnessing history in the making as the UN Decade of Action 2011-2020 begins in May and YOURS will no doubt be celebrating this ‘beginning of change’ with great enthusiasm and passion. The year ahead is an exciting one and through all the achievements of 2010 YOURS is set to make this year a highly productive, concrete and change making one for global road safety and young people.
Some of our goals for this year include:
- The support and organization of at least 1 Regional Youth Assembly
- The launch of our first publication: A Road Safety Welcome Kit for Young People
- Awareness campaign during the World Remembrance Day 2011
- Organize road safety capacity building workshops
- Maintain and expand Global Youth Network for Road Safety and provide services
- Advocate for young people and road safety issues during international events
- Support the launch of the Decade of Action
We have a big year ahead of us! It is not only exciting but historical on the eve of the Decade of Action. The YOURS website will also continue to grow with new features, initiatives, campaigns and media so keep coming back and checking for updates.
