YOUTH ON TRACK (JÓVENES EN RUTA)
YOUNG PEOPLE LEADING SAFER STREETS IN THE STATE OF MEXICO
YouthOnTrack (Jóvenes en Ruta) is a youth-led programme in the State of Mexico that enables young people to take action for safer streets, focusing on motorcycle safety and helmet use.
Supported by Autoliv and implemented by YOURS – Youth for Road Safety with local partner Liga Peatonal, the programme addresses one of the leading causes of death among young people: road traffic crashes involving motorcycles.

WHY YOUTHONTRACK?
Every year, more than 15,000 people lose their lives on Mexico’s roads. For those aged 15 to 29, road crashes are a leading cause of death.
In the State of Mexico, motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable. Low helmet use, limited road safety education and weak enforcement create high risks. YouthOnTrack puts young people at the centre of the solution.
The 2025 programme includes:
- Building partnerships and selecting youth leaders: 21 young people recruited with the support of local organisations and the Government of Toluca.
- Training: A hybrid curriculum on road safety, motorcycle safety, helmet standards and leadership.
- In-person workshop: A full-day session in Toluca City Hall to design local actions for safer streets.
- Upcoming actions: Youth-led community activations and awareness campaigns from August to November 2025.
